Arlene Stocking was hired as a full-time Child Development Specialist in December 1974 and retired in June 1999, after 25 years of loyal and dedicated service. Upon her retirement, she was granted Emeritus status.
Arlene distinguished herself by demonstrating professionalism and knowledge in her specific assignments in that beat early childhood studies department and the child lab program including supporting families.
Arlene became a nationally known speaker in the field of child development and curriculum. She published a companion text for her workshops. She developed and maintained community relationships with local agencies providing child care services.
Arlene encouraged and provided support and resources to parents as they participated in the child lab program. She nurtured the growth and development of thousands of young children and gave them a good start on their academic and social emotional lie. Arlene supervised and instructed Ohlone College students as they participated in the practical and experience.
Arlene served the college with distinction in maintaining the children’s program with excellent coordination with the instructional program.
