Dr. Iola Barber was hired in September 1974 and retired in May 1995, after 21 years of dedicated service. Upon retirement, she was granted Emeritus status.
Iola played a significant role in the development of the biology program, including courses and laboratories. She was widely praised as an excellent instructor who maintained the highest professional standards. She also consistently maintained excellent student and professional relationships. Iola was known to spend many extra hours to supervise open labs, conduct study / review sessions, and use a variety of teaching strategies to facilitate student success.
Iola believed deeply in the mission of the community college and worked tirelessly to help her students succeed and help the college maintain excellence in teaching and learning.
