Dick Peters was hired as Assistant to the President in November 1979 and retired in June 1993, after nearly 14 years of dedicated service. Upon retirement, he was granted Emeritus status.
Dick played a significant role as a key member of the president’s cabinet and made many contributions to the decision-making of the college. He managed and provided leadership for the Personnel, Security, Public Information, Printing and Buildings and Grounds Departments.
As Personnel Officer for the District, Dick worked tirelessly to improve relationships with UFO (United Faculty of Ohone), UPE (United Public Employees) Local 790 and CSEA (California School Employees Association) Chapter 490.
Dick was also the District Affirmative Action Officer and took an active role in organizing an ongoing statewide affirmative action job fair. He was instrumental in the District receiving an award in 1993 for Outstanding Achievement in Hiring Minorities and Promoting Diversity.
