Robert Seiden was hired as a full-time member of the Psychology Department in August 1968 and elected to retire in May 2001 after 33 years of teaching. Bob started at Ohlone in the second year of classes for the college. He was one of the Pioneer Faculty at the temporary Serra Campus off Washington Avenue in Fremont. As the second full-time Psychology faculty member, he was involved in establishing the Psychology Department at the new college. He participated in the move to the permanent Fremont Campus on Mission Boulevard in 1974. Upon retirement, he was granted Emeritus status.
As one of the first faculty members, Bob helped form the curriculum in psychology. During his tenure, he served hundreds of students teaching courses in General Psychology and Human Relations. He endeavored to make learning interesting and applicable to students and their lives. Bob was dedicated to life-long learning and to the mission and goals of the college, especially the focus on student success.
He continues to reside in San Francisco with his wife.
