Dan Archer was a Trustee on the District from 1979 until his retirement in 2007, after 28 years of dedicated service.
Dan served our country with distinction in the United States Marine Corps. He then had an exemplary career as a teacher and school principal for the Newark Unified School District.
Dan served as Chair of the Board several times and worked to build and maintain the outstanding reputation of Ohlone College both locally and state-wide. He was honored by the Community College League of California in 2005 for 25 years of service on the Board of Trustees. He served as an evaluator for the Community College Accreditation Commission.
Dan was a founding member of the Ohlone College Foundation, broadening educational opportunities by providing scholarships and loans to students who are otherwise unable to attend. In his work with the Foundation Dan was instrumental in creating the Ohlone College Business Forums.
Dan served the Community of Fremont with great dedication, as Board President of the Fremont Symphony, as Fremont Library Commissioner, and as President of the Fremont Arts Association. He was actively involved with the International Relations section of the Commonwealth Club of California, and volunteered over 2,500 hours at Washington Hospital.
Dan has always kept the needs and interests of Ohlone students foremost in his thoughts and actions as a member of the Board.
