Ruthe Foster was a Trustee on the District Board from 1986 through 2006, electing to retire after 20 years of dedicated service.
Ruthe was junior high school teacher who taught social studies and English in Newark for 34 years. She took her place on the Board in 1986 when she was appointed to fill the seat held by her beloved husband Ken Foster, a local businessman and former Vice Mayor of Newark, Ken Foster, upon his death. She then was continuously re-elected until her retirement from the Board.
Ruthe served her colleagues, the Ohlone College community and the community of Newark with great dedication and enthusiasm. She served as Chair of the Board several times and worked to build and maintain the outstanding reputation of Ohlone College both locally and state-wide.
Ruthe has always kept the needs and interests of Ohlone students foremost in her thoughts and actions as a member of the Board.
