Karen Hendrickson became a Trustee on the District Board in December, 1990 and retired in December, 2002, after 12 years of dedicated service. Upon retirement, she was granted Emeritus status.
Karen represented the District Area 1 for the City of Newark and consistently promoted the values of the college.
Karen was a representative to the Alameda County School Board’s Association and served on the Newark Center Committee. She served on the board’s budget and audit committees and exercised fiscal responsibility, ensuring that the college maintained adequate reserves. She represented the Trustees on the Ohlone College Foundation Board of Directors.
Karen strongly supported student, classified staff, and faculty programs and services throughout her term as a member of the board. Professionalism, mutual respect, clear articulation of issues, and sound judgment are the hallmarks of her tenure on the board, and she steadfastly honored the intent of Board involvement in policy matters.
